Environmental Responsibility

Less waste through better decisions.

NewGen reduces environmental impact by running uniform programs more intelligently — using renewable energy, tighter stock control, practical range design, better packaging choices and more efficient freight planning.

Powered differently

A direct investment in reducing grid electricity use.

NewGen’s warehouse and office are supported by onsite solar generation and battery storage.

4.8 kWhAverage winter grid electricity drawn per day since installationCompared with approximately 28 kWh per day before the solar and battery system was installed.

Even during winter and overcast conditions, the system has supplied more than 75% of the premises’ electricity requirements. Because the system is newly installed, we are continuing to monitor performance before making full-year claims.

Smarter stock, less unnecessary stock

Good environmental outcomes often begin with better forecasting.

NewGen’s forecasting system combines customer ordering history, demand patterns and supplier lead times to identify replenishment needs and stock exposure earlier.

This gives customers clearer visibility, supports more accurate purchasing and reduces the risk of both shortages and unnecessary surplus stock.

The practical outcome: fewer reactive decisions, less avoidable stock exposure and a uniform program that is easier to manage.

Practical range design

More choice is not always better if several garments perform almost the same role.

NewGen works with customers to build ranges that are practical, easy to manage and appropriate for the people who need to wear them.

Where a proposed range includes unnecessary duplication — such as multiple near-identical polos — we explain the effect on stockholding, cost and complexity and recommend a simpler approach where appropriate.

The final range is always agreed with the customer and reflects their operational, branding and workforce requirements.

Packaging that makes practical sense

Avoid first. Reuse where possible. Recycle what cannot be reused.

Glassine transition

We work collaboratively with customers to replace individual poly bags with glassine bags where the alternative suits their storage, handling and garment-protection requirements. Most customers have already transitioned.

Carton reuse

Clean, suitable cartons are reused for outbound orders rather than discarded and replaced unnecessarily. Cartons that are no longer fit for reuse are recycled.

No routine pallet wrap

NewGen does not use pallet wrap as part of its normal outbound packing process.

Consolidated orders

Orders going to the same location are consolidated where practical to reduce avoidable packaging and freight activity.

More responsible material options

Customers should be able to consider better material choices without being forced into an unsuitable garment.

NewGen works with customers to identify organic, recycled and independently certified material options that suit the performance, comfort, laundering and commercial requirements of the program.

  • Organic cotton options
  • Recycled polyester options
  • OEKO-TEX certified materials
  • Supporting product or material documentation where available
Environmental attributes are considered alongside garment durability, fit, availability and expected service life. The objective is a better-informed choice, not a marketing label.

Better planning, less avoidable freight

Planning ahead can reduce both cost and environmental impact.

  • Sea freight is preferred over air freight where customer timelines allow.
  • Orders are consolidated where practical.
  • Unnecessary split shipments are avoided where operationally reasonable.
  • Freight information is reviewed to identify practical improvement opportunities.

Environmental improvement at program level

Every uniform program is different. NewGen works with customers to identify practical improvements across garment selection, range design, stockholding, replenishment, packaging and delivery.

  • We identify opportunities and explain the trade-offs.
  • We recommend changes that are workable in practice.
  • We support customer-specific reporting where the necessary data is available.
  • The final decisions remain with the customer.
